JAIC transitions ownership of AI-enabled GAMECHANGER to OUSD-C

The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) transferred ownership of GAMECHANGER to the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (OUSD-C) on 1 February 2022. GAMECHANGER is an AI-enabled policy Natural Language Process (NLP) search capability and centralized document repository for the Department of Defense (DoD) developed by the JAIC, in partnership with Advana.

The fully scalable and easily adaptable capability residing in the Advana platform allows users to capitalize on its interoperability, simplification, expedited document delivery at a fraction of the time previously spent searching across various databases for documents.

"GAMECHANGER is comparable to a Google search engine for all government publications,” said Mr. Mark Gorak, the JAIC's Deputy Director. “The AI-enabled search tool connects the department's publications and provides users quick access to all publications on any topic line.”

GAMECHANGER’s ownership transfer represents two significant milestones in the DoD. The development of a tool from concept to maturation with proven success and the most used and widely available AI-enabled capability across the DoD. The platform currently has over 7,500 users, 38,000 documents within its corpus, and 28 authoritative sources.

“The JAIC saw a real problem with how the DoD searched for policy and applied revolutionary technology to provide real value to the Department,” said Mr. Gregory Little, the OUSD-C’s Deputy Comptroller. “In my comptroller role, I am, of course, the most excited about applying GAMECHANGER to gain better visibility and understanding across our various budget exhibits. This product is a perfect example of what can happen with great teamwork!”

Post transfer, the JAIC and OUSD-C Advana will continue to work closely on additional AI-enabled capabilities and AI and Data Acceleration (ADA) efforts to elevate DoD AI-readiness levels and help improve operational efficiency by expanding mechanisms for AI-driven automation and collaborative planning.
