Col. Thomas Kilbride, USA Acting Deputy Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer for Algorithmic Warfare


Colonel Thomas J. Kilbride is the Principal Director for the Algorithmic Warfare Directorate in the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office under the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Missions Director for the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center, focused on accelerating A.I. across seven mission initiatives.

Colonel Kilbride’ s previous assignments include Infantry Branch Chief EPMD, U.S. Army Human Resource Command from 2019-2020; Battalion Commander 1st Battalion, 196th Infantry from 2017-2019; and he served as a Fellow at the Department of State in Washington D.C. As a Major, COL Kilbride served as the Executive Officer and Operations Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division. He served as the Aide-de-Camp to the XVIII Airborne Corps Commander and returned to serve as the Brigade Executive Officer for the 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg between 2012-2016. COL Kilbride has led Soldiers at the Brigade to Platoon level in Airborne, Ranger, and Light Infantry units from the 82nd Airborne Division, 101st Airborne Division, and the 75th Ranger Regiment in the United States, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Throughout his 21 years of service, COL Kilbride has deployed worldwide for various training events and exercises and has numerous combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. He graduated from the Infantry Officer’s Basic and Advanced Courses, the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and the National War College in Washington, D.C. He is a United States Military Academy graduate at West Point, New York, and was commissioned into the Infantry in 2002.
