Overview
The CDAO aims to lead digital transformation across the Department by developing key data and analytics products
and creating a reliable, platform-agnostic analytics ecosystem for its users. We combine technical expertise
with bureaucratic savvy to establish standards for large-scale digital transformation, helping customers at
every stage of their digital journey to foster a data-driven culture in the DoD.
Tools
Advana
The Advana Platform is the DoD's enterprise data and analytics environment. It provides DoD users with data
from more than 400 DoD business systems, along with tools, services, and analytics to enable data-based
decision-making.
GAMECHANGER
The GAMECHANGER application is designed to drive search, understanding, and analysis of DoD requirements
documents using natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence-enabled technologies. Launched in
May 2020, GAMECHANGER for Policy enables DoD policy analysts and action officers to expediently identify and
analyze policy documents from across the enterprise using a search capability founded in replicable,
generalizable, and scalable technology.
Pulse Executive Performance Analytics
Pulse is the DoD’s enduring initiative to institutionalize a culture of data-driven decision-making,
relying on metrics informed by authoritative data to drive improved performance. It enables senior leaders in
the Department to proactively monitor how DoD is performing and identify areas where they need to align with
enterprise strategic priorities and improve to deliver exceptional results.
Joint AI Test Infrastructure Capability (JATIC)
The Joint AI Test Infrastructure Capability (JATIC) program develops cutting-edge software solutions to advance
AI Test & Evaluation (T&E) and AI Assurance across the DoD. JATIC's mission is to accelerate and enable
AI model testing for DoD programs, research labs, industry partners, and academia, ensuring AI-enabled systems
are effective, robust, and safe for national security applications. By providing scalable, secure, and adaptable
software solutions to address critical challenges in AI testing, JATIC empowers the DoD to develop and deploy AI
systems with confidence through:
- Multi-dimensional AI testing—evaluating robustness, resiliency, explainability, and competence
- Reproducibility and traceability—ensuring consistency in AI experimentation
- Interoperability and security—enhancing the reliability of AI T&E software
- User-friendly tools—streamlining AI testing for DoD developers
Services
Accelerating Data and Artificial Intelligence (ADA) Initiative
The Accelerating Data and Artificial Intelligence (ADA) Initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of data,
analytics, and AI within Combatant Commands. Through the deployment of specialized teams, the initiative
supports Commands in managing data, integrating AI solutions, and streamlining workflows, while equipping them
to become self-sufficient in analytics and tool development.
Principle Staff Assistant (PSA) Analytic Product Teams (APTs)
The PSA APT initiative supplies technical talent to address analytic gaps within the Office of the Secretary of
Defense, driving performance improvements in policy, strategy, and resources.
Advana Community Spaces
Community Spaces are dedicated locations within the Advana platform for a specific organization or group of
users to curate their data and develop their analytical products.
