Mr. Jonathan Elliott is the Deputy Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (DCDAO) for the Enterprise Mission Area for the Department of War (DoW) within Research & Engineering (R&E). In this role, he leads the DoW's adoption of Frontier AI, ensuring warfighters have access to these critical technologies through direct experimentation. He successfully launched GenAI.mil to three million users in December 2025 and continues to deploy new models and capabilities. Additionally, his team is developing Autonomy.mil to accelerate the creation and sharing of data and models across the DoW's autonomy ecosystem.
With over a decade of experience in unmanned, autonomous, and AI systems, Mr. Elliott has held several key leadership positions. He was the founding Director of the AI Rapid Capabilities Cell (AIRCC) and the Director of Assurance & Assessment (A2). Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Elliott was a Principal Project Lead at MITRE and served as Chief Engineer for Autonomy and AI Test Technology at the Test Resource Management Center (TRMC).
Mr. Elliott holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland.
